Or a friendly neighbourhood Logi? That's kinda the point of them...
If you aren't running in a squad (a strike against you) with one, then relying on supply depots is exactly what you should be doing.

Clone D wrote:Thank you for that insight. Here are a couple for you. 1. The battle is not always near a supply depot. 2. HAVs et al dispose of supply depots so there may be none left.
1. Then looks like you need to run. 2. Not nearly as much as they used to. HAVs actually need supply depots now and often need to keep them for their infantry support.
Honestly, just quit your bitching and keep a better tab on your ammo. Below 1/3rd capacity? Maybe you should retire for a while to refill.

Historically there have not been this many heavies walking around on the battlefield. We need to set a new precedent for ammo capacity or find some other solution to the additional ammo requirement.
Sooo...adapt? Use better nanohives? Get a Logi buddy? Be a better shot?
There is no need to change things, they are fine. Supply depots are present, allowing you to refill ammo and equipment or switch to a more effective suit. Nanohives allow you to refill on the fly. Remotes might be useful for your needs? Maybe try adapting?

Nanohives and Logistics. Ta-daaaa!

Yes, more HP means more ammo needed: you're supposed to invest in nanohives and/or ammo skills. Even then no one should have enough ammo to last forever.

Maybe you should actually present some numbers instead of simply declaring your stance to be true. My normative stance is still legitimate: no one should have the ammo to run around murdering everyone without concern for logistics.

Clone D wrote:Let's say that I have to face 20 additional heavies per match now, and each of those previously played assaults and so there are approximately 20,000 (20 x 1000) additional HP that I must damage with ballistics if I am not near a supply depot and cannot switch to REs or an alternate method. Then that means at 27 HP per combat rifle bullet, when in optimal range, I would use approximately 740 extra rounds per match, if my accuracy were 100%, but not all attacks occur within optimal range, and my accuracy is not 100%, so let's double that to 1500 additional rounds per match. If I die twice on average, then I will need to carry around 500 extra combat rifle rounds on my character to deal with all of the extra HP on the field due to popularity of heavy class dropsuits.
I am concerned about logistics. I use the tools at hand. I am asking for new tech.
Now you have the numbers. You have the reason.
The only reason that you would be so obstinate, that I can think of, is if you regularly play a heavy suit and you are afraid that I will be matched against you some day, and you feel like you need the advantage of my possibly running out of ammo in order to take me down.
No inclusion of actual ammunition/reserve ammunition, how much nanohives can return, etc. Those are the numbers I assumed you had, but all you gave were vague numbers that are only loosely grounded in reality.
For one thing, heavies have roughly twice the HP of an Assault, but they are usually around 1000-1200 HP total. Assaults are usually around the 600 mark. 20,000 extra HP would be if there were no Assaults previously: you're more looking at an extra 10,000 HP.
And attempting to personalise my obstruction? Nice move. My suits on my main/alt: L5 GalScout (my most common frame) L3 Min Commando L3 Min Logi L5 Cal Sentinel (alt, rarely used) L5 Cal Commando (alt, rarely used) L3 Cal Assault (alt, rarely used)
My main suit is an ADV GalScout. I don't have ammo issues, often because I die. Sometimes I do have severe ammo issues: which is why I now have a suit fitted with X-3 hives for long periods of fighting. Since I made the hive switch,my ammo issues are next to nought, and I don't have ammo capacity 5.
Really, your issue is you want to be self sufficient: to do so requires you to sacrifice something, somewhere. You either need to run a solo Logi suit to keep yourself supplied; run the best hives you can fit; or accept that one person cannot carry the amount of ammo you desire and make efforts to conserve ammunition (don't engage out of your optimal, for example) and to resupply whenever possible.
If everyone HD sufficient ammo all the time, nanohives would be unnecessary. Present some numbers on ammunition spent, regained through hives and speed of expenditure, maybe that will do more to express your situation than vague, arbitrary numbers from thin air.

We could get into the tedium of how the numbers work out, and we could ask CCP to send us battle logs to show what really happens on the battlefield, but what matters is what a good player is reporting. I hold that I need a tech solution. If you don't like it, then okay.
Ahh, so assertions of skill now? If you read my post, my main suit is a GalScout, and I don't brick tank so I'm squishy. When I use my Commando or I do brick tank, ammo still isn't much of a concern when I run hives, even though I die a lot less.
I'm not disagreeing because I dislike it, I'm disagreeing because I think it is unnecessary, renders nanohives less important and by proxy makes Logistics suits less important.
A single player, running solo should not have enough ammo to be unconcerned about the possibility of running out.

Thank you for singlehandedly setting me straight. I have now converted to your way of thinking.
Hey, DEVS, if you get a chance to look into this problem, keep it on the down low. Kallas has a strict moral rubric against supplanting logis.
Be more of an *******? I never said that Logis should be the best, nor that you cannot suffice without one. You seem to be of the opinion that you should never need one: which is the case if you use the tools available, namely nanohives and supply depots.
Tell me, should we reduce everyone's precision such that Logibros with Active Scanners are useless? What about Logis with uplinks? Or injectors and hives, everyone should be able to fit self-revive modules!
Try using less melodrama and actually apply reason. Logistics suits are there for a reason: to supply and support squads and teams. Part of supplying and supporting teams is deploying nanohives. If you are running out of ammo AND am of your own nanohives - WELL DONE! And now you need a supply depot, because you have used all of the ammo you currently have. That is NOT an unreasonable thing to ask.

And now you're trying to demean me by assuming I'm a teenager? Get off your high horse and understand that your issue is personal: the use of supply depots is part and parcel of the game; same for Logistics, who've spent SP to support the team - what is the point of the Logi if there's no need to support anyone.
as I said, if you actually want to facilitate any kind of change, you should look into actual numbers. You call it tedium: CCP calls it balancing. Numbers are an intrinsic part of the game, and if you cannot be bothered to crunch some, you should really just avoid posting in the Feedback section.
Edit: I forgot to mention: what I've been trying to do is actually get some proper feedback from you instead of entirely anecdotal evidence. Anecdotes do not beget change, and all you've been doing is complaining that you might have to pause killing for a minute to go get some more ammo/hives. Is that really that hard?
